In it's current guise, the Cock and Bull Co. public house is an attractive building at the upper end of Stourbridge High Street that is always worth a second glance.
The establishment has changed hands several times, formerly known as the Glass House, The Meeting House and the Royal Exchange, then from 2017 it became The Cock and Bull. This building stands out due to it's interesting beams and curved side wall. The current owners have also created interest by adding a mural - both the business name and these features have given me things to play with in the process of creating the collage!
Now, the sharp eyed among you may notice that the building is not actually pink in real life! This doesn't bother me in the slightest! - The reason for this is that I have recently taken to substituting duller colours such as white or grey in the subject that I am working from for brighter ones. You can see in my collage that the pink is much more appealing and pops against a bright turquoise sky. Just looking at this combination can't fail to cheer you up and these colours will reproduce nicely to give a vibrant image in print.
Even as a seasoned professional, I did have a little trouble with the beams as there are so many of them to get in the right place - so don't be daunted if you want to try something like this yourself - and this involved re-painting a few. I have also been able to have quite a bit of fun inserting silly things into the picture for my own amusement (note - there isn't actually a bull on the roof in reality either...)!
I felt it necessary to sample the menu in the process of creating this piece, which I can report is very tasty and within the piece you will find that the Cock and Bull logo is authentic burger wrap that I took home from my visit specifically for the purpose of collaging.
